Short Biography for Takara M. Carter
Takara M. Carter is an award-winning writer and poet known for her compelling crime, mystery, and thriller stories. Inspired by cherished moments watching crime shows with her late father, Joe, Carter weaves these early influences into her writing, drawing from the works of John Grisham, Michael Connelly, and Agatha Christie.
Beyond her writing career, Carter is an Assistant Professor of English, specializing in Composition, World Literature, Creative Writing, and Leadership. She holds multiple advanced degrees in English and Creative Writing and is currently pursuing a PhD. An advocate for young writers, she leads Writluxe University, nurturing creativity and critical thinking. When not writing or teaching, she enjoys family time and exploring literature.
Full Biography for Takara M. Carter
Takara M. Carter is an award-winning writer and poet who has been inspired by many professors and writers before her. Her passion for writing crime, mystery, and thriller stories sparked years ago when she and her late father, Joe, would sit and watch hours of In The Heat of The Night, Matlock, The Rifleman, and COPS. She had no idea that those impressionable moments with her father would become the spark for several books in the genre. Today, her work is heavily influenced by authors such as John Grisham, Michael Connelly, Stephen King, C.J. Box, Agatha Christie, and many others.
Outside of her writing career, Carter serves as an Assistant Professor of English, specializing in Composition, World Literature, Creative Writing, and Leadership and Success. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in English and Creative Writing, and a second master’s in Public Relations. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in English, driven by a deep desire to continue contributing to the literary and academic world.
Throughout her academic and professional journey, Carter’s work has been recognized for its unique ability to combine rich storytelling with sharp insights into human nature. Her short stories, poetry, and essays have been recognized both personally and professionally, and she continues to explore the intricate layers of crime and morality through her writing.
In addition to teaching, Carter is deeply passionate about mentoring young writers, helping them find their voice and refine their craft, through her organization Writluxe University. Her teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing creativity and critical thinking, empowering students to become both skilled writers and thoughtful individuals. She is a sought-after speaker at various conferences and a Linkedin Advisor, often presenting on topics related to writing, education, and leadership in higher education.
Takara M. Carter splits her time between her roles as a writer, professor, and PhD student, balancing her creative endeavors with her commitment to shaping the next generation of writers.
